Coming off my previous method onto one more Lingq based. Before i was following AJATT using Chinese, but my listening wasn't 8-10 hours of anything as Khatzumoto seems to say is ok. I just didnt have the time or tolerence, nor do I think its nescessary, to do this.
So coming off...
...1500 characters learned from Hesigs book, and then picking up characters as I go along with lots of reading from Nkiu and Smartfm and sentence picking into Anki (currently at around 3600 entries in Anki - maybe 1600 consisting of individual character cards and the rest sentences...
Im now moving to a schedule of...
Morning
Listen and read content on Lingq. Rather than Lingq words, translate them to traditional characters and online dictionary then stick them into Anki (20 per day). Listen a couple of times during this.
Day (If needed)
Listen some more. Im still going through beginner content so I find I dont need to do this at the moment. I probably will once I find my way up to my right level of material.
Night
Do Anki Reps (This will include the 20 I added in the morning)
Listen to the material some more during reps.
Watch a bit of Chinese TV
Repeat. Focusing more on understanding 80-90% or until im bored rather than how many times i listen to it.
I feel this is great because it especially involves more listening. I found after a year of study almost that I somewhat struggled with what I believed should be the most basic of content on Lingq. EG: I had to listen to beginner content 3-4 times to get it all. Had I listened more during the year to more comprehensible input i probably could've skipped alot.
No worries though! I have been listening to SOME things, and I find that time is never ever really wasted when being involved in the language. My progress should be quick initially I anticipate...
to be continued...
